The Environmental Effects Statement (EES) for WestWind Energy’s Wind energy project 5km west of Warracknabeal and Brim has been released by the State Government. This statement of many, many hundreds of pages sets out all the information that WestWind Energy has provided to the Government for the development of this project.

At the meeting of the Wimmera Mallee Environmental and Agricultural Protection Association Inc. on Monday, April 28th, the audience listened to Barrister Mr Raymond Broomhall discuss the very serious adverse health effects that wind turbines may potentially cause to humans and livestock.

The Wimmera Mallee Environmental and Agricultural Protection Association Inc. WMEAP, fully supports the Victorian Farmers Federation’s call for an immediate halt to Western Renewables Link (WRL) and VNI West, pending proper community engagement.

Victorian grain grower Ross Johns says his community is being torn apart by wind farm developers relying on government subsidies and approval waivers to make their projects viable.

“What we’re asking for is transparent, proper process from government and open community consultation by the multinationals and others backing wind farms,” said Mr Ross, whose family started farming in Victoria in the 1870s.
